School vehicles to get diesel twice a week
Kathmandu, November 29
Vehicles of academic institutions will now get diesel twice a week from five petrol pumps in the Valley.
A public notice issued here today by Nepal Oil Corporation said school buses and vehicles of diplomatic missions will get diesel from five petrol pumps — Basundhara-based Mahalaxmi Fuel Center, Naxal-based Nepal Police Welfare Fund petrol pump, Lagankhel-based Shakti Devi Petrol Station, Sanepa-based Indriayani Oil Store and Thimi-based Guheshwori Fuel Station.
According to NOC, vehicles of schools and diplomatic missions will get 30 liters of diesel every Monday and Thursday.
Many schools in the Valley were on the verge of closure as they could not ferry students due to shortage of petroleum products. Lachhe Bahadur KC, president, Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation Nepal said that NOC’s decision comes as a huge relief to schools and colleges in the Valley.“The schools were on verge of closure due to the fuel crisis.
It is a positive development that the government heeded our requests to designate separate filling stations for school vehicles,” he said, adding, “The government should continue to prioritise schools while distributing fuel.”
