Seminar on people living with disabilities
Kathmandu, March 17:
The JICA Alumni Association of Nepal (JAAN) today organised a seminar on ‘Japanese Cooperation in Inclusion of Person with Disabilities’ marking the golden jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan.
Speaking at the programme, Shinji Yoshiura, resident representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), said Japan has extended and will continue its support for disabled people in Nepal.
Birendra Raj Pokharel, president of the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal, said, “Japan’s support to the people with disabilities has brought hope to us. Interactions on issues of disability will help build an inclusive society.” Speaking at the programme, Chandi Prasad Shrestha, president of the JICA Alumni Association of Nepal, said the objective of the seminar was to work towards building an inclusive society and advocate for equality rather than sympathy.
On the occasion, various papers were presented on various topics of disabilities.
