Shekhar Koirala on top as 603 votes counted

KATHMANDU: Shekhar Koirala has been leading in vote counting of the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee members in the open category as 603 votes were counted.

Prakash Man Singh and Khum Bahadur Khadka are closely following him.

Total 90 candidates are vying for the 25 positions.

Meanwhile, the Election Committee is also counting votes for CWC members under the women reservation, Dalit open, Dalit women, Madhesi open and Madhesi women categories.

Jeevan Pariya and Laxmi are leading in the Dalit open and the Dalit women categories respectively till 800 votes were counted in both categories.

Ajaya Kumar Chaurasiya and Kiran Yadav are leading in the Madhesi open and the Madhesi women categories respectively till 696 votes were counted in both categories.

So far, the party has only concluded counting under the Muslim reservation category. Farmullah Mansoor was elected a CWC member under this category.

Votes for the CWC members under the provincial representation category would be counted on Saturday, according to the party's Election Committee.
