Kathmandu, March 28:
Dispute has surfaced in the Nepal Sherpa Students’ Forum (NSSF) over organising the forum’s sixth conference. The first meeting of the NSSF Sixth National Convention Preparation Committee has decided to organise the national convention on May 9, 2005 in Kathmandu but the general secretary of the forum, Kishor Sherpa, says the bylaws of the organisation has no provision of setting up such an organising committee. The present dispute, however, is not related only with organising of the convention. On March 15 the central executive committee of the NSSF had expelled the forum’s president Sonam Wangchhen Sherpa from the committee and the general member claiming he had worked against the interest of the forum and had engaged in financial irregularities and had unanimously elected Dorji Sherpa, the then vice-president, as the new president. “Sonam was expelled from the forum as he repeatedly misbehaved with the executive members of forum including Pema Namgyal Sherpa, education secretary Namgel Jangbu Sherpa, general secretary and office secretary Karma Sherpa at several times,” general secretary Kishor said.
Kishor said Nepal Sherpa Association has called them to discuss on the issue.
