SLC chance exams begin tomorrow

MADHYAPUR THIMI: This year's School Leaving Certificate supplementary examination will begin on Sunday. The exam scheduled to start from August 9 was deferred due to the delay in the appointment of exam controller.

Gopal Prasad Bhattarai, deputy controller, Office of the Controller of the Examinations, told this daily, "The preparation is over. We have sent the question papers to respective examination centres." This year, all the centres are based in the district headquarters.

Students failing in not more than two subjects are allowed to take chance exams. Bhattarai said 93,237 candidates would take the exam in 268 centres across the country. Exams in 44 subjects will last for eight days. As many as 46,468 candidates had flunked in mathematics and 43,199 in English. The pass percentage of the SLC exams held between March 25 and May 2 was 68.47, an all time high.
