Solid waste collected
Kathmandu, February 6
The 143rd week of Bagmati Clean-up Campaign saw collection of 17 metric tons of solid waste from Baneswor Campus to Min Bhawan bridge along the banks of the river this morning.
Apart from the regular supporters of the campaign, landless squatters in Jagritinagar also joined the campaign. Similarly, members of Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, locals and campaigners along with Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi, former chief secretary and founder Lilamani Poudyal, chief of Bagmati Civilisation Integrated Development Committee Rajesh Singh and other personalities also participated in the campaign on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a series of tests of the river water showed that its quality had improved as compared to the past, said Singh. Next week, volunteers are set to join hands in cleaning the areas below the Min Bhawan bridge, according to the organisers of the campaign.
