KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 17
Speaker Devraj Ghimire has called for the prompt restoration of water supply from Melamchi to Kathmandu as soon as possible.
He made this call during an observation tour of Ambathan in Helambu-1, the source of the Melamchi Water Supply Project, today. Stressing the urgent need to supply Melamchi water promptly to the residents of Kathmandu, Speaker Ghimire inspected Ambathan and its upper area.
Speaker Ghimire also gathered information from relevant authorities regarding the delays in channeling water from Melamchi to Kathmandu.
During the visit, Padam Bahadur Kunwar, the Senior Divisional Engineer of the Melamchi Water Supply Development Board, briefed the Speaker on the ongoing work in Melamchi.
Speaker Ghimire was accompanied by former minister Sher Bahadur Tamang, and former minister of the Bagmati provincial government, Saresh Nepal, among others.
