Special Court sends gangster Ganesh Lama to one-year in prison

KATHMANDU: The Special Court today convicted notorious gangster Ganesh Lama in money laundering case and sentenced him to one year in prison.

A division bench of Chairman of Special Court Baburam Regmi, Judges Dwarikaman Joshi and Ratna Bahadur Bagchand handed down the verdict in Kathmandu on Thursday.

According to Registrar of the Court Bhim Kumar Shrestha, the Court ordered to sentence Lama to jail and confiscate illegally owned properties worth Rs 14.40 million.

A money laundering case was filed against Lama at the Special Court on May 19, 2013.
