Stamps released on World Environment Day

The Women Environment Preservation Committee (WEPCO) in association with Nepal Philatelic Society and the UNDP Global Environment Facility — Small Grants Programme Nepal released a first commemorative cover with a 60 paisa stamp to mark the World Environment Day (WED). Chuman Singh Basnet, secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports, put the first stamp on the commemorative cover at a programme organised today. He said that global warming has been a serious threat. “Information regarding the preservation of nature and environment control needs to be disseminated for preventing it from further degradation,”

said Basnet. He also released a badge with the WED logo. The Postal Department also issued a one rupee World Environment Day postage stamp.
