KATHMANDU: All Nepal National Free Students' Union activists halted traffic for half an hour on Monday noon in front of Ratna Rajya (RR) Campus. They were protesting the assault on Bhojpur Multiple Campus chief Prabhat Kumar Rai by the Maoist-affiliated student union yesterday. "The attack on the campus chief is also an attack on the academic sector. Our protest is meant to urge the Maoist union to correct itself and stop terrorising the academia," Raj Kumar Rai, RR Free Students' Union president, told this daily. "We want the rule of law and a just society. We are pressurising the government to maintain law and order," he added, demanding punishment for the ANNISU-R activists involved in attacking the campus chief. Meanwhile, Nepal University Teachers' Association (NUTA), issuing a press statement today, condemned the act of the Maoist-aligned students.
