Student leader freed on apex court order

Student leader Chau N Lai Shrestha was freed today following a Supreme Court order to government authorities to release him. A division bench comprising Justices Dilip Kumar Paudel and Arjun Prasad Singh had issued the order to the Home Ministry, Kathmandu District Administration Office and Kathmandu District Police Office, Hanumandhoka, to release him from the court premises. Meanwhile, a separate bench of Justice Khil Raj Regmi directed government authorities to produce advocate Medini Sitaula before the bench to conduct a hearing regarding his detention. Authorities were also ordered to furnish explanation regarding three detainees, namely Shailendra Adhikary, Roshan Kumar Shrestha and Heramba Raj Banstola. They were detained a few days after the Royal takeover of February 1.
