Students on hunger strike

Kathmandu, March 26

Students of education faculty have started a hunger strike, demanding that the examinations scheduled for April 6 be cancelled and vacant posts of teachers be filled through open competition.

Students started the hunger strike from 4:30pm today at Maitighar Mandala.

Rajan Lamsal of Morang, Milan Bastola of Bhojpur, Hemraj Thapa of Bajura, Sushant Bohara of Humla from Mahendra Ratna Campus and Ram Chandra Karki of Ramechhap have jointly begun the hunger strike, according to Puskar Sharma, coordinator of Student Struggle Committee.

Students have also put forth the demand for amending the Education Act. “To counter the fast-unto-death started by temporary teachers, students too have begun the strike from today,” Sharma informed.
