Students protest campus firing

Student activists of the seven students’ unions today organised whistle rallies in various parts of the valley to protest against the shoot out at a students’ meeting at a campus in Mahendranagar.
The students took out rallies at Tahachal, Maitidevi, Lalitpur, Baneshwor, Maitidevi, Bhaktapur and Kirtipur.
According to Bijay Kumar Rai, chairman of Free Students Union, TU Campus at Kirtipur, the students took out a whistle rally from the premises of the Central Department of Management and went around offices of all the central departments of the TU campus and converged into a corner meet.
Buddhi Raut, the ANNFSU TU Committee Co-ordinator, Jeet Jung Basnet, president of NSU TU committee and Bishnu Poudel of the NSU movement committee addressed the corner meet. The student leaders said that the King’s autocracy would not last long and that the students would carry on with their movement until complete democracy is restored.
Tek Raj Poudel, joint general secretary of Nepal Students Union, appealed all the educational institutions to support the students movement against the February 1 royal take over by closing the educational institutions on May 14. He also announced that next protest programme would be a torch rally on May 12 and a nationwide educational strike on May 13.
