Students vandalise campus
Kathmandu, June 14 :
The row that erupted today afternoon following disagreement between the two factions of students over the lifting of locks at the campus chief’s room saw vandalisation of property in the Shankar Dev Campus.
According to Democratic Students’ Union (DSU), a group of students from different student wings affiliated to different political parties and the union had locked the room of the campus chief, Amuda Shrestha, seven days ago with a 10-day ultimatum to tender resignation from the post.
“Three days before the ultimatum expired, the Free Students’ Union of the campus lifted the lock citing different reasons,” a press release issued by the DSU said.
The students, who were dissatisfied with the lifting of lockout, vandalised furniture and window panes of the campus chief’s room and other rooms. Students chanted slogans against the campus chief and campus administration after the incident, the release said. The students are asking Shrestha to step down from the post of campus chief.
