Students want armed forces out of campus

KATHMANDU: A coalition of student outfits on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the Vice-chancellor of Tribhuvan University (TU), Govind Prasad Sharma to press for withdrawal of the army from campus premises, among other demands.

The memorandum, submitted by a team that was led by Shankar Dev Campus Nepal Student Union (NSU) chairman Dek Raj Bhattarai, has outlined the future course of agitation if the demands are not met.

The new protest programme has warned of lock-out from April 17, boycott of classes from April 21 and closure of all campuses in case the demands are not met by next fortnight. The students have also announced lock-out of the VC’s office. — HNS
