Students’ rally to draw govt’s notice
Kathmandu, March 25:
Academic Students Council (ASC) is all set to organise a huge students’ rally here on Friday.
Addressing a press meet here today, Narayan Prasad Dhakal, general secretary of the ASC, said they were organising the rally to press the government to adopt a new education policy, provide employment for academics and create social awareness.
The ASC had earlier conducted an educational campaign on ‘our curriculum for good and prosperous Nepal’ throughout the country to collect suggestions from Nepali youths on their desired education policy. It had also organised workshops in over 150 colleges and had submitted memorandums to local administration offices in 35 districts.
“Education should not be commercialised. It is a service sector. Therefore the government should bring special programmes and policies for the sector,” he said.
Dhakal expects more than 10,000 students to participate in the rally.
