'Supply food to famished Jajarkot folks'
KATHMANDU: Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) today demanded the government to take immediate steps to supply foodstuff to starvation-hit Jajarkot as per the agreement between the Government of Nepal and the World Food Programme.
“In utter disregard of the starving people, the WFP halted the supply of food grains in the food-deficit areas,” said INSEC in a press statement.
“Instead of improving the quality and supply of food grains within their own system, they have halted the supplies. This shows how frivolous is the organisation towards the people suffering from acute food insecurity,” Subodh Pyakural, president of INSEC lambasted.
Rice and pulses provided through DEPROSC,
by the WFP in different districts, including Jagarkot, was declared substandard after sample tests at the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control.
“At a time when the people have hardly overcome diarrhoea and cholera pandemic halting of nutritious food to the people is a condemnable act,” added the statement.
