Supreme Court questions govt officials’ intention
Kathmandu, May 12:
The government authorities are found to be overwhelmed by the intention of misappropriating funds obtained from donor agencies, the Supreme Court said today while unveiling its full text judgement in a graft case against NRB Governor and its Executive Director.
A single bench of Justice Tahir Ali Ansari issued today’s full text verdict. The SC, with the capacity of Special Court, had convicted Governor Bijaya Nath Bhattarai and ED Surendra Man Pradhan of graft and had slapped a fine of Rs 3,449,970 on March 18.
The bench observed that Bhattarai and Pradhan caused the NRB a loss of Rs 3,449,970 by signing contract with IEF INC. Lloyd Hill Oakton, USA, in association with KPMG, Sri Lanka.
The bench also found that the NRB board of directors had approved the job of five consultants of KPMG. The CIAA had filed graft case against them on June 29.
