Surya Bahadur Thapa’s nephew missing

Kathmandu, February 23:

Nephew of former prime minister Surya Bahadur Thapa, Bidur Bahadur Thapa, 52, a resident of Bishalnagar, Dhumbarahi, has been missing for five days, according to his family.

His wife Sangita said today that Thapa had gone to withdraw money from a bank at Bishalbazaar on Wednesday. “After withdrawing Rs 50,000 from the bank, he went to Rajana tailor. He stayed there for half-an-hour but we have no information where he went after that,” she said. Thapa and DSP Yog Bahadur Pal, who is also from Bishalnagar

and posted at Bouddha Metropolitan Police Circle, had exchanged heated words on Wednesday morning.

Following the reported incident of police personnel taking bribe from a contractor, Thapa reached Pal’s house and allegedly threatened to take the issue to the YCL. Thapa’s family, however, denied this.

Infuriated Pal also reached Thapa’s house and exchanged heated words with Thapa’s family. Thapa’s family alleged that Pal threatened to take Thapa into custody. Pal, however, denied this charge.

Meanwhile, Bishalnagar locals today met SP Sarbendra Khanal at Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu. Locals suspected that since Pal had threatened to arrest him, he might be behind the incident. Khanal denied the allegation.
