Swiss state secretary meets Bairagi

Kathmandu, December 6

State Secretary of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Pascale Baeriswyl, who arrived in Kathmandu yesterday on a working visit, held a bilateral meeting with Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi at the latter’s office today.

The two discussed diverse issues of bilateral concerns covering political, economic and development cooperation during the meeting.

Matters such as trade, investment and sustainable development as well as issues of mutual interest and cooperation in multilateral forums, including the United Nations, also featured during the meeting, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

After the meeting, Foreign Secretary Bairagi hosted a luncheon in honour of the Swiss state secretary and her delegation.

The Swiss delegation included Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Jorg Frieden and Barbara Gonzenbach, regional coordinator for South Asia at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, among others.

The Swiss state secretary will be in Nepal until tomorrow.
