Switzerland expresses concerns over Nepal polls

KATHMANDU: Switzerland has expressed concerns over the government's preparations for the local level polls announced for May 14.

Calling on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Wednesday, the Swiss Ambassador to Nepal, Jorg Frieden, also expressed his concerns over issues pertaining to political stability in Nepal.

The PM responded to his queries informing that the government was committed to holding the elections on time, the PM's Secretariat informed in a statement today.

Likewise, he said the government was in regular conversation with the agitating Madhesi parties so as to end the political instability as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Dahal also thanked the European nation for the support is has been providing for Nepal including that for the conclusion of the peace process.
