Talks between ruling parties, UDMF begin

KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led talks team representing the ruling coalition and representatives of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front are holding a meeting to find a solution to the Tarai unrest.

The meeting is underway at the State Affairs Committee in Singha Durbar.

Though the leaders of CPN-UML, UCPN-Maoist and Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal attended the meeting, leaders of the main oppostion party Nepali Congress did not show up.

Earlier this morning, the NC had said that it was unaware about the preparations of ruling parties for the much-anticipated talks said to be scheduled for today.

Before the meeting with major parties, top leaders of the Front held a meeting to make a common view for the talks.

The ruling coalition partner UCPN-Maoist had this morning decided to adopt maximum flexibility to make talks with the agitating UDMF result-oriented.
