Tamrat visit ends today
Kathmandu, May 15:
The visiting UN official Samuel Tamrat is wrapping up his visit tomorrow with a positive impression from the government and Nepali leaders regarding UN role in Nepal’s peace process.
“There is a positive disposition to the UN role (in Nepal) but it is early to talk about specifically on that,” said Tamrat after meeting with Pashupati Shumsher Rana, Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, today. He continued consultations with political leaders, including CPN-UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, today regarding future prospects of peace and possible UN role in Nepal’s peace process.
Nepal said that Tamrat was keen to know about the future course of ceasefire and modalities of talks between the government and Maoists. “The UN official discussed about the complexity and possible UN role in Nepal,” he said.
