Task force formed to study landless farmers’ situation
Kathmandu, April 3
A task force has been formed under the leadership of National Farmers’ Network to take stock of the situation of landless farmers in the earthquake-affected districts.
A nine-member task force has been formed under the leadership of chairperson of Nepali Congress’ sister organisation Nepal Kisan Sangh, Bhanu Sigdel.
Task force coordinator Sigdel informed that they were given seven days to submit a report on the discussion held between National Land Rights Forum and National Farmers Network in Kathmandu on Friday.
The task force members will visit districts worst affected by the earthquakes, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk and Lalitpur, among others.
Following the field visit, the network will pile pressure on Prime Minister and National Reconstruction Authorityto rehabilitate and resettle the landless farmers who have been left in lurch after the devastating earthquake, Sigdel said.
