Taskforce to fix school fees

KATHMANDU: District Education Office (DEO) Kathmandu on Friday formed a seven-member taskforce to fix the fees to be charged by institutional schools in the district.

Gyani Yadav, officer, DEO, said the taskforce consisted of representatives from the education office, guardians' association, PABSON and N-PABSON.

He said the taskforce would evaluate the schools' physical infrastructure and the facilities offered to students and teachers before setting a fee-range within a week.

Suprabhat Bhandari, president, Guardians' Association Nepal, said the guardians today shut down Shikhar Boarding High School in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur. "It's to begin with. If the schools do not follow the government diktat, we will act tougher," he said.
