Teacher, former VDC secy booked for corruption

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority today filed graft cases against two persons at the Special Court.

According to the CIAA, Balmiki Gupta, a teacher of Shree Baisidevi Primary School in Palhinandan Rural Municipality, Nawalparasi, had joined the service by submitting a forged teaching licence. He was found to have tampered with an expired licence for the purpose of getting job in the school.

Likewise, Krishna Bahadur Dahal, secretary of then Khoksar Prabaha Village Development Committee in Saptari district was charge- sheeted for embezzling tens of thousands of rupees while on office.

According to the CIAA, he had misappropriated Rs 533,000 allocated by the government as grant. He was working as a non-gazetted first class office in Saptari District Prison.

With the filing of the corruption charge, he has been suspended from the post. The CIAA said Dahal was charged under Section 12 of the act, seeking maximum punishment against him.
