Temporary teachers to go on hunger strike again
KATHMANDU: Temporary teachers are to launch a relay hunger strike again, pressing the government to implement the agreement signed earlier with them.
The protesters have accused the government of failing to implement the four-point agreement reached earlier on June 23 between the Ministry of Education, the Nepal Teachers' Federation and the Temporary Teachers Struggle Committee.
The temporary teachers had been protesting putting forth various demands including a ninth amendment to the Education Act. Other demands include ensuring that teachers' vacancy will not be opened until 45 days of the day the act is amendment and the examination will be held only after the amendment.
The Federation has suggested that the teachers' examinations set by the Teacher Service Commission earlier for August 19 should not be halted under any pretext.
