Thieves target Mahantha Thakur's house; daughter hurt in retaliation

KATHMANDU: A gang of thieves on Friday evening stole some property from Tarai Madhes Democratic Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur's house in Sanothimi of Bhaktapur.

They also hurt the leader's daughter, Dr Minakshi Jha, who tried to stop the criminals from decamping with a briefcase.

The party said the incident had taken place at around 7:30 pm yesterday.

It has been learned that Thakur was in a meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter's official residence in Baluwatar when the incident occurred.

Meanwhile, issuing a statement today, TMDP spokesperson Bimal Prasad Shreeebastav demanded that the government immediately nab the thieves and take action against them.

The party also wished for speedy recovery of the injured woman.
