KATHMANDU: Police on Tuesday arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in a coral beads robbery case.

A team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division arrested Anup Lama (31) from Mangaltar-9 of Kavre, Surendra Basnet aka Milan (27) from Parsakhaireni-2 of Chitwan and Baburam Lama (27) from Mangaltar-7 of Kavre.

Police accused them of robbing one Janam Bahadur Hamal of six coral necklaces worth Rs 1.8 million on Monday.

Hamal was robbed of the precious beads while he was travelling on a public vehicle from Sorhakhuttle to Jamal of the Capital.

Meanwhile, police recovered Rs 18,000, five mobile sets, a watch, 502 coral necklaces and a motorcycle from the suspects.

The MPCD handed them over to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu for further investigation and action.
