KATHMANDU: Three prisoners have escaped from the Metropolitan Police Sector in Bhainsepati of Lalitpur district on Monday night.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shyam Gyawali at the Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari, Rabin Kumar Timalsina, Sumsher Majhi and Rudra Lal Shrestha escaped the lock-up by cutting the grill of a small window at the back of the building sometime after 10:00 pm.

Timalsina had been imprisoned on a drug case while Majhi and Shrestha were captured on the charge of theft.

On-duty police officers are being questioned regarding the escape, and if need be, departmental action would be taken against them, added SSP Gyawali.

Police in the valley are in high alert to find them.
