KATHMANDU, JULY 24

The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), which was closed following the crash of a Saurya Airlines plane this morning, has now reopened.

The Saurya Airlines plane, 9N-AME, crashed shortly after taking off for Pokhara from Kathmandu at around 11:11 AM. The crash led to a temporary shutdown of all outbound and inbound flights to facilitate rescue operations.

With the completion of the rescue operation, the airport has resumed operations. The closure had impacted both domestic and international flights, with domestic flights halted at various domestic airports and international flights either put on hold or diverted to other airports.

The crash resulted in 18 fatalities. The pilot, Manish Shakya, is currently receiving treatment at KMC Hospital.
