Tibetan exiles mourn death

KATHMANDU: The Tibetan Refugee community in Nepal today offered a special prayer to former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala on the premises of Bouddhanath Stupa. They wished that the departed soul rest in peace. One thousand butter lamps were lit on the occasion.

Thinley Gyatso, the Dalai Lama’s Nepal representative said the special prayer was performed to mourn the loss of one of the greatest sons of Nepal. “He was always kind and generous to all the people, irrespective of their political and religious faith,” he said.

Tashi Phuntosh, a member of the Tibetan refugee community said Koirala had spent his entire life for the good of humankind.

Tibetan exiles also offered heartfelt condolence to the family and the people of Nepal at the ‘loss of their towering leader’ and offered ‘solemn prayers for the departed soul’.
