Top three get responsibility to pick candidates for NA
KATHMANDU: The CPN Maoist Centre has decided to give responsibility to top three leaders including party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to select the party's candidates for the National Assembly.
A meeting of the party central office along with the province in-charge provided the responsibility to party Chairman Dahal and leaders Narayankaji Shrestha and Ram Bahadur Thapa, said party spokesperson Pampha Bhusal.
The Maoist Centre is expected to select the candidates on Tuesday. The party is selecting only 14 candidates in the National Assembly elections after the electoral alliance with the CPN-UML.
Bhusal said that names of possible candidates have been received as per the directive given to the province in-charge to recommend three names from each province.
The candidates would be finalized based on all classes and regions as per the alliance with the UML.
Priority would be given to the families of martyrs and enforced disappeared, having longstanding contributions and those lacking opportunities in the party.
