Training on gender responsive reporting organised

Lalitpur, February 3

Media Advocacy Group and UN Women today organised a day-long national level ‘Training for Journalists to Promote ‘Non-discrimination and Gender Responsive Reporting’.

More than two dozen journalists from different media houses had participated in the training programme.

Laxman Datt Pant, chairperson of Media Action Nepal shared information on media access with reference to journalistic content, media content and new sources from gender perspective.

He also shared information on human rights issues and gender responsive reporting. Speaking at the programme, Babita Basnet, president, MAG said that the organisation has been working on various issues, mainly gender, media and tight to information in particular.

She said that the programme was organised to enhance skills of working journalists by sharing information and opinions on promoting non-discriminatory and gender responsive reporting. She also announced that MAG was going to award one journalist and one photo journalist who have contributed to gender responsive reporting and photos.

She said awards would be given on March 8.
