KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 17
The chairpersons of four major parties in the ruling alliance have urged the electorate to make the alliance's candidates victorious in the election throughout the nation for the institutional development of the democratic republic in accordance with the spirit of the constitution.
The election to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly is going to be held throughout the country on November 20 in a single phase.
Issuing a joint statement on behalf of the alliance today, the leaders of the four parties have called on the voters to take the general election as a national festival and participate in the voting process. They appealed to all and sundry to make candidates of the left-democratic alliance victorious in the election.
Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-Maoist Centre Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal and Rastriya Janamorcha Chairperson Chitra Bahadur KC issued the joint statement.
In the statement, they said that there was a wave of nationwide public support in favour of the alliance in the course of the election campaign itself. "This has enthused the leaders and cadres," they argued.
"It is known to all that the present alliance had to be formed in July 2021 against the then government after it took several authoritarian and regressive steps by becoming embroiled in corruption and dissolving the House of Representatives twice violating the constitution, laws, rules and procedures, instead of providing vaccines to the citizens suffering from coronavirus," reads the joint statement.
Stating that the present government conducted the local elections in a free, fair and credible manner in a period of oneand-a-half years wherein the parties in the alliance had collaborated, the four leaders said the alliance was together at one place in this election as well.
The commitment papers and election manifestos have already been unveiled with the goal of preventing any kind of assault on the constitution and uplifting the nation to the status of a developing country by completing the development of infrastructure as early as possible, the leaders reminded in their joint appeal.
They stated that it was natural for all the parties to seek votes for the proportional election system as the alliance was meant only for the first-pastthe-post elections. It will not in any way undermine the aspirations of the alliance. The future government will be formed through a clear majority of the alliance and it will give political stability as per the spirit of the constitution.
Noting that the results of this election should expose and defeat the coalition of the 'dissolutionist' and 'regressive' side, the four leaders have urged all the voters to make the common candidates of the alliance victorious in the election.
