Tri-Chandra students protest denial of fair concession

KATHMANDU: Students of Tri-Chandra College in Kathmandu have staged a demonstration since early morning today demanding that the government control black marketing and implement the provision of concession on public transport fair as agreed earlier.

"We are forced to come out to the street when staff of public vehicle attempted to attack students with iron rod while demanding concession," said Nepal Students Union (NSU) Tri-Chandra Campus President Bishnu Paudel.

The agitating students smashed screens of vehicles for denying concession on fair, said Assistant Inspector at Metropolitan Police Circle, Durbar Marg, Ram Singh Bista.

He informed that they took control over a microbus (Ba 1 Ja 8284) operated along the Bouddha-Jorpati-Ratnapark route and put forward the process to take action for not complying with the rule on concession.

"The agitation will continue till the action against the vehicles which are not ready to grant state-sponsored fair concession to the students," student leader Paudel said.
