KATHMANDU: Tributes were paid to the late King Birendra in commemoration of his birth anniversary on Tuesday.

People lit candles and laid wreaths at the statue of the late King at Gokarneshwar Municipality-6 amid a function today. The statue is placed at the premises of the Swargapuri Temple at Gokarneshwar.

The temple priest Achyut Prasad Bhandari lit oil lamps and garlanded the statue on the occasion.

He remembered the late king as someone who always lived with 'speak the truth and live by your dharma' spirit.
