KATHMANDU: Part-time teachers of Tribhuvan University today taught their pupils in the open-air theatre, protesting the government's continuous neglect of their demand.

Their demands include appointment of part-time teachers on contract basis and the formulation of a new act that clearly defines the criteria for hiring and facilities they enjoy.

Govinda Luitel of Nepal Part-Time Teachers' Association (NPTTA), Tribhuvan University, said the classes were taken in the open-air symbolising their peaceful protest .

"They also lit candles at Shanti Batika, where a bunch of teachers are undergoing a fast-onto-death.
