TU students to continue agitation
Kathmandu, November 26:
The agitating students of the Tribhuvan University (TU) today unlocked the main gate of the office of the vice-chancellor.
However, the lockout of the VC office, and the offices of the registrar and the TU Service Commission will go on indefinitely till their demands are met, said Ramesh Thapa, president of the TU Struggle Committee.
He said the decision to unlock the main gate was taken in the interests of commoners. Four rounds of talks between the agitating students and the TU executive body since November 18 have yielded nothing so far on students’ demands to cancel the agreement reached with part-time teachers in August last to hire them directly on contract basis. The students have been saying that the agreement, if implemented, will bar fresh graduates from competing for the TU service. The TU executive body has expressed inability to meet the students’ demands.
