TU to hire teachers only through open competition

Vice Chancellor of the Tribhuvan University Tirtharaj Khaniya today said that the university has adopted a policy of appointing teachers only through open-competition.
Taking part in an interaction programme ‘Teacher appointment process and TU’s future’ organised by the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary), Khaniya said the TU has adopted a policy of discontinuing with the trend of hiring teachers on contract-basis and on political recommendation and power-sharing basis.
ANNISU (R) chair Ramesh Malla demanded that the university hire 51 per cent teachers through open competition.
TU rector Sudha Tripathi said political stability was a must to ensure proper management of the university.
Former rector Mahendra Singh stressed on revising the higher education policy for better results.
