Two bicycle thieves held

Lalitpur sub-branch of the Valley Crime Investigation Branch (VCIB), Hanumandhoka, arrested two bicycle thieves yesterday.

Police inspector Bhakta Bista said that two persons have been arrested on suspicion of stealing and selling bicycles. The accused have been identified as Ram Bahadur Karki, 22, and Hem Bahadur Bam, 18. Karki hails from Basantapur of Tehrathum while Bam is a permanent resident of Dainau VDC-9 of Kailali.

Karki said that he worked in the capital for a year but his boss never gave him remuneration. The due amounted to Rs 24,000 and he decided to take up this profession. However, Bam, a restaurant cook in Lagankhel followed Karki after he finished the money taken from the restaurant to return home. He used to get Rs 800 per month. They had stolen nine bicycles from Gurjudhara, Shankhamul and Gwarko. They used to sell them for Rs 300 to Rs 600.
