Two held for faking a robbery

KATHMANDU: A team of sleuths deployed by Metropolitan Crime Division on Thursday has held two persons for faking a gold robbery.

According to police, Khadga Bahadur Sunar (53) and Bachhan Sunar (25) purchased a kg of gold from Sidhhartha Development Bank Newroad Branch and filed a misleading police complaint that the gold bar worth Rs 4.8 million was robbed along with cash and mobile phone from a guest house they were residing at Gongabu in Kathmandu.

The Sunar duo kept the gold bar safe at Amar Jewellers in Gongabu and orchestrated a fake robbery to keep the gold bar to themselves, said police.

Further investigation into the case is underway, MCD informed.
