KATHMANDU, APRIL 21
Two immigration officials have been relieved of their duties at Tribhuvan International Airport and referred for investigation after they were found to have acted outside prevailing law and departmental decisions by stamping passports of Nepali citizens bound for the United Arab Emirates with the entry "Employment is strictly prohibited. Visit till 10/6/2026."
The Department of Immigration stated that no policy or decision exists permitting immigration officials to stamp such conditions on the passports of departing Nepali citizens. A probe committee was formed on the matter by a decision dated January 17, 2026.
The two officials have been removed from their airport responsibilities pending the outcome of the necessary investigation, the department said.
