Two including NA runaway held for fraud

KATHMANDU: Police said they arrested a runaway Nepal Army man for swindling various persons in the guise of a NA officer.

Krishna Bahadur Khatri (30), a permanent resident of Bildung VDC-6 of Okhaldhunga, was arrested from Chitwan for swindling people assuring them of sending them to the UN peacekeeping missions or finding jobs at the NA.

He had posted a photograph in a combat dress pinning an insignia of an army captain on Facebook while claimed himself to be a major in front of various persons, the Metropolitan Police Crime Division added.

He had run away from the barrack in April-May 2012 and the Army had taken action against him.

Meanwhile, police investigations revealed that Khatri was nabbed for a fraud case last year also. He was released on bail then.

Another man was also recently arrested for promising people of jobs as Investigation Officers at National Investigation Department.

Deepak Thapa Magar, from Basundhara in KMC-3, had claimed to have acquaintance with officials and promised members of the public to recruit them in the Department.

Police said Magar had swindled Dhan Bahadur Dharti of Rs 650,000, Suman Baram and Nirendra Gurung of Rs 450,000, and Bikash Thapa of Rs 450,000 (total Rs 1.55million) promising them to recruit as Investigation Officers in the Department, informed police.

Thapa Magar was arrested from Bagbazaar of Kathmandu after the victims lodged complaints at the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD).

The MPCD has sent both Khatri and Magar to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu for further investigation.
