KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 20

Two people have been arrested on charges of making financial inducements to influence the outcome of the second Nepal Premier League (NPL).

The arrested are Dilpreet Singh, 28, of Haryana, India, and Rebika Singh Thakuri, 24, of Barbardiya Municipality-7, Bardiya, who currently resides in Chandigarh, India.

A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested them in Lazimpat for attempting to bet on players in the second edition of the NPL cricket tournament by contacting them via social media platforms WhatsApp and Instagram.

They were made public today and handed over to the District Police Range in Kathmandu for further investigation and action, according to Superintendent of Police Kaji Kumar Acharya of the Office.

Nepal Police also announced the arrest of two people for attempting to sponsor betting players in the Nepal Premier League by offering financial incentives.

According to reports, the fixer offered NPR 10 million for a run-out in the current second edition of the NPL.
