Two robberies, two thefts reported

Kathmandu, October 15:

A group of three unidentified persons looted property worth Rs 325,000 from the house of Krishna Nepali at Balaju, Kathmandu, yesterday evening.

According to the police, Kalpa Nepali, the wife of Krishna, was the only one at the house when the armed group broke into the house. Masked robbers made away with Rs 40,000 in cash, 14 tolas of gold and a camera worth Rs 325,000 from the house, the police said, adding that the looters tied Kalpana against a pillar of the house while they looted the valuables.

Also yesterday, police arrested one Subash Poudel, 22, of Nuwakot on the charge of looting Rs 1,200 from a taxi driver at Sitapaila in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-13, the police said. Today morning, thieves broke into the house owned by one Umeshman Singh at Tripureshwor and made away with valuables worth Rs 153,000. The thieves took away Rs 7,000 in cash, a mobile phone set, a digital camera, two tolas of golden jewellery and other valuables, the police said.

At Gangabu-8, Kathmandu, property worth Rs 280,000 was stolen from the house of Kul Bahadur Thapa last night. Nobody was in the house when the incident occurred. Police said that thieves broke the padlock of the main gate, entered the house and took away a computer, a printer, a television set, a video camera, a gas cylindera and other valuables.
