Two separate fire incidents reported in Valley

KATHMANDU: Property worth around Rs 80,000 was gutted when a three-storey house caught fire in Kalikanagar of Chandragiri Municipality-3 in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

The fire that started from a LPG cylinder leakage engulfed the house belonging to Purushottam Sigdel, destroying Rs 11,000 in cash, two TV sets, 0.25 tolas of gold and crockery, according to police.

In a separate incident, a two-storey metal-roofed house belonging to Mukunda KC was completely destroyed in a blaze, in Lele of Bajrabarahi Municipality-16 in Lalitpur district, on Wednesday.

The house was engulfed in flames after Tek Bahadur Sarki, the house guard residing on the ground floor, cooked meal on firewood and went to bed without dousing the fire, according to police.

The fire was contained with the help of police and locals.

The blaze completely destroyed the metal-roofed shelter. It is yet to learn the damage caused, said police.

Meanwhile, police have launched investigations into both the cases.
