Two tonnes of garbage collected
Kathmandu, Oct 15
The Bagmati clean-up campaign has continued even during the Kojagrat Purnima – the final day of Dashain festival.
The campaign into its 179th week scooped up approximately two tonnes of garbage which had piled up at the Pashupatinath temple during the festive season.
Nepal Police led the clean-up at Pashupati temple premises while the Nepal Army and Armed Police Force headed the clean-up along the river below the Aryaghat, said Narayan Shrestha, member of High Powered Committee for Integrated Development of Bagmati Civilisation.
Kuleshwor Bazaar now wears a cleaner and fresher look after the vegetable vendors were censured for ridding waste materials improperly. A team from the campaign raised around Rs 150,000 in fine during the regular inspection spanning the Dashain festival.
