UCPN-M forms panel to monitor its ministers' performance

KATHMANDU: The UCPN-Maoist has constituted a Government Operation Coordination Committee to monitor works and performance of ministers representing the party in the government.

A meeting of the party's Standing Committee held at the party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence at Lazimpat today formed the seven-member Committee under the convenorship of party Vice-Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

The Committee comprises of party General Secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Secretary trio Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Barshaman Pun and Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Treasurer Haribol Gajurel and Standing Committee member Janardan Sharma.

Party spokesperson Dinanath Sharma said the Committee has been formed as lack of coordination between the party and the government would result in ineffectiveness in decisions of the government.

He explained that the Committee has been formed to ensure that maximum works are carried in favour of the people when the party is in the government.

Sharma added that the Committee would provide necessary advice to the government and ensure that the government maintains transparency in its decisions.

"The Committee has been formed to put to an end to the tendency of taking decisions all by oneself, without informing the party," spokesman Sharma said.
