KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition member UCPN-Maoist on Friday issued a whip to its lawmakers, urging them to vote for the party candidate Nanda Bahadur Pun in the vice-presidential election scheduled for Saturday.

Hitraj Pandey, Chief Whip of the party's Parliamentary Party Office, issued the whip after the PP meeting today.

Pandey has also directed them to arrive at the Parliament building for the voting an hour before the election begins.

The Parliament Secretariat has scheduled the voting from 11 am to 2 pm tomorrow.

Pun is expected to win the election with the support from the ruling coalition including CPN-UML, Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal, Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic and other fringe parties, besides the Maoist.

He is competing against Nepali Congress lawmaker Amiya Kumar Yadav.
